I was diagnosed with Autism at age 19, but I've been living with it all my life. Some aspects of it are positive, but others can be quite challenging.
One thing I have struggled with for as long as I can remember is fatigue. My anxieties and hyperactive brain make getting to sleep very difficult.
As a result, I'm often exhausted during the daytime, and I've become virtually chemically dependent on coffee to function productively.
For my AWEgust challenge, I've decided to break free of this dependency, and go a whole month without coffee.
This may not seem like a big deal, but to me it's like quitting an addiction.
Fatigue and sleeping problems are a widespread yet often overlooked challenge for people on the spectrum.
Please help us raise awareness and support people with autism to overcome their everyday challenges.
